apple cider, apple sauce, grape leaves, baklava, fudge, WAIT A SECOND WTF IS COFFEE DOING ON THAT LIST??

Cider, Baklava, Fudge (alt. useage) = YES by Horatio Hellpop (4.00 / 2) #6 Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 06:11:19 PM EST
I'm going to have to pass along the Apple SAUCE and Grape leaves recommendations to our esteemed panel of judges.

Also, iced coffee is an ancient Turkic treat and should not be dismissed out-of-hand.

UPDATE: Our judges inform us that Baklava contains Satan's Own Nut, and is therefore DISQUALIFIED.

women are most definitely not good when cold.

come to think of it, coffee when cold isn't too good either.

i've not tried warm dr. pepper, but I suspect that it's not very good either. lacking evidence, however, i'll have to take your word for it.

and how did my diary inspire this? n/t by cicero (2.00 / 0) #8 Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 06:41:26 PM EST

I live on cold coffee. by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 3) #9 Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 06:58:49 PM EST

In the morning, iced four-shot americano, in the afternoon, the same. If it wasn't iced, I couldn't down the whole unpleasant drink in less than 30 seconds, and I'd never get that awesome caffeine rushheadache elimination.

Dr. Pepper is aromatic, even moreso when heated. by Horatio Hellpop (2.00 / 0) #11 Wed Dec 19, 2007 at 07:55:59 PM EST
They used to pimp the suggestion on their bottles, back in the day. Try it, you'll thank me.

Pizza is not good cold, and Dr. Pepper just isn't good full stop.

Instead, may I suggest wine or hard cider?

Glühwein is great hot. by Horatio Hellpop (2.00 / 0) #16 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 05:47:13 AM EST
Not so good cold, but I'll allow it. How'd you get Dr. Pepper? Seems unlikely.
OTOH, I like Irn-Bru, and I'm nowhere near Scotchland, so I suppose anything's possible.

Also when I was a kid I used to eat baked beans cold, with vinegar.  I don't think I'd like that any more though.

A few jobs ago there was a grocery store a block away, so when I wanted to get in touch with my inner bachelor I'd buy a can of ravioli, and eat it cold with a spoon nicked from the lunchroom. It made an impression on my colleagues for some reason.

One day there were no spoons, so I ate it with a coffee stir-stick. That really grossed some peope out.

9. BACON . . . by slozo (4.00 / 2) #23 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 10:13:24 AM EST
. . . as well as tomatoes, shrimp, oysters, pumpkin pie, boiled eggs (w/s&p), brandy, just off the top of my head.

Women? Not good cold, no thanks.

Soft-boiled eggs == HELL NO by Horatio Hellpop (2.00 / 0) #26 Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 04:06:42 PM EST
Never had chilled brandy, just room temp. Interesting. Will try.

I meant to add pumpkin pie earlier, but only the cool kids are allowed to edit diaries.

FYI - back in the day . . . by slozo (4.00 / 1) #27 Fri Dec 21, 2007 at 04:01:25 PM EST
. . . I was looking through an old cocktail book with tonnes of olden style drinks in it that no one had heard of before, and came upon the "Marlon Brando": 2-10oz brandy (depending on level of Brando achieved), 3 ice cubes, and a few teaspoons of . . . wait for it . . . cream. Mix well, serve in a brandy or aperatif glass, natch.

If you have low quality brandy, I highly recommend this.
